Terms of use
Draft. This has not been reviewed by a lawyer and needs legal review before anyone relies on it.
Last updated 1 November 2026. These are the plain rules for using Locked In.
What Locked In is
A study app. You film yourself studying, the session becomes a short timelapse, and friends can keep you honest. It's an early version: no email, no password reset, and things will change.
Your account
- You must be 13 or over, and give your real birthdate at sign-up.
- Keep your password safe. This version can't reset it, so if you lose it, you lose the account.
- One person per account. You're responsible for what happens on yours.
Your content
- Your frames, goals and recall lines stay yours. By sharing a session you let Locked In store it and show it to the people you shared it with, until you unshare or delete it.
- Anyone you share with could screenshot or record what they see. Locked In can't stop that, so share accordingly.
- Only film yourself and spaces you're allowed to film. Check that nobody else in frame minds, especially in a library, a shared room, or a school.
Don't
- Share nudity, sexual content, or anything illegal. Never share anything sexual involving a minor. This is a platform with 13 to 17 year olds on it.
- Harass people, including with nudges, or use a report to get at someone.
- Try to get at other people's data, break the service, or automate sign-ups.
You can report a person or session and block anyone. Reports are stored for review. We can remove content or close accounts that break these rules.
Honest limits
- Focus time is self-reported by the app. The server caps it at the time that passed, but it can't tell whether you were really studying. Don't rely on it as proof of anything.
- Your private frames live in your browser or on your phone. If you clear site data, lose the device, or the browser removes them, they're gone. There's no backup.
- Locked In is provided as it is, with no promise that it'll always work or that it'll improve your grades.
Leaving
You can delete your account in Settings at any time. The privacy notice says what that removes and what stays.
Still to be filled in
- Who operates Locked In, and the governing law.
- Limits of liability, and what applies to users under 18.
- How changes to these terms get announced, given there's no email yet.
